Jovian Tethers

The first constellation of massive electromagnetic tethers are positioned in the orbit of Ganymede in an effort to gradually discharge Jupiter's Van Allen belt. It could take centuries, but the hope is that, eventually, the intense radiation bathing the Jovian moons can be lowered to the point where it would no longer be dangerous for large-scale Human development.
